A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents,

Forest Park Elementary first began our Patriotic Assembly after the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attack and has continued annually since that time. In 2003 Act 682 was legislated which created "Celebrate Freedom Week" in public schools the week of September 26-30, starting in 2005. This law was created to educate students about the sacrifices made for freedom in the founding of this country and the values on which this country was founded.

Forest Park will host our annual Patriotic Assembly and celebrate of our country's freedom this Friday, September 29th in an all school Patriotic Assembly at 9:00 a.m. on the west playground. We invite all families to participate and join us in honoring the National Guard and Citizen Volunteers. The 4th and 5th grade students will perform, the National Guard will present the flag, and special guest, Arkansas LT. Governor, Tim Griffin will speak.

Students are allowed a free dress of red, white, and blue colors this Friday. The 4th and 5th grade students have been given a specific color shirt to wear by class for their performance.

This is sure to be a special time for our community to come together.

Respectfully,

Theresa Courtney-Ketcher

Principal
